The B.S. degree in Sports Media provides students with course-specific training and experiential-learning opportunities to engage in the constantly evolving field of sports media. Students learn and apply the technical skills of covering sports events on deadline; producinglive and recorded multimedia and broadcast content; and developing the conceptual skills of strategy, sports communication theory, and best practices.
From day one, you will be enrolled in classes in your major that give you a foundation to such potential career paths as field producer, sports information director, sports anchor, publicist, planner, marketer, social media strategist, and more.
Sports Media students supplement coursework with required internship experiences and by getting involved withstudent media and athletics at Ithaca College, including the campus television station (nba买球正规官方网站TV), the campus radio stations (92 Wnba买球正规官方网站B and Vnba买球正规官方网站), and the campus newspaper (Ithacan). The Gridiron Report, Big Red Faceoff, Sports Final, and So You Think You Know Sports are long-running nba买球正规官方网站TV productions, entirely produced, directed, scripted, and reported by students.
Students regularly receive internship offers at NBC to help its Olympic coverage, and they are able to study and work in sports internships for a semester at our Los Angeles center or in New York City, among other opportunities. Some of the internship placements include ESPN, NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, NCAA, PGA, MLL, WNBA, USTA, Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center, MetLife Stadium, CBS Sports, Fox Sports 1, NBC Sports, MLB Network, NBA Entertainment, Sports Illustrated, IMG, and Octagon Sports. They can also intern right in Ithaca during the academic year at The Ivy League Digital Network affiliated with Cornell University athletics.
By the time you graduate, you’ll be prepared to lead, manage, support, and create the next generation of sports media programming.
