After an interview with the executive board, candidates must complete the basic training. This phase consists primarily of classroom instruction plus an observational patrol, which encompassesa total of approximately 12 hours of training. Successful candidates will be hired as Probationary Members. Promotional opportunities exist thereafter to Junior member, Senior member and Executive Board member.

All SASP members must be enrolled as full or part-time students at Ithaca College and must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.6. All employees must also be in good standing withStudent Financial Services and have a cleanhistory with theOffice of Judicial Affairs.
